Fredericton Early Learning Center
Welcome to the Fredericton Early Learning Center, a licensed and accredited childcare center dedicated to providing high-quality early education and care for children in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Here's an overview of what we offer:
Location: We are located at 351 Aberdeen St, in a charming historic house that creates a warm and welcoming environment for children.
Accreditations and Inspections: We are licensed by the New Brunswick Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Our center undergoes annual inspections from the Department of Education and occasional spot checks, as well as inspections from the Department of Health and Fire Inspector. This ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
Capacity and Age Range: We have a maximum capacity of forty-one children and currently serve children aged two to four years.
Operating Hours: We are open twelve months a year, from 7:45 am to 5:15 pm, providing reliable care throughout the year.
Transportation and Field Trips: Our center has its own transportation services, with drivers holding a class four license. This allows us to participate in exciting field trips to various locations, such as the Country Pumpkin, SPCA, New Maryland Nature Trail, Everett's Apple Orchard, and an eight-week session of weekly trips to Kingswood Gymnastics Center.
Outdoor Emphasis: We place great importance on outdoor experiences and nature-based activities. Our center takes advantage of Fredericton's extensive nature trails, visiting parks like O'Dell Park, Killarney Lake Park, Hyla Nature Preserve, and the UNB Woodlot. Children have daily access to our large backyard, where they can engage in sand, water, and mud play. Our outdoor environment includes creative art areas, reading spaces, and quiet spots for relaxation.
Parental Involvement and Special Occasions: We foster strong partnerships with parents and encourage their involvement in their child's education. Throughout the year, we host special occasions such as Parent Night, Terry Fox Run, Christmas Concert, and a year-end 'Celebration of our Children's Lives.' These events provide opportunities for parents to engage with the center and celebrate their child's progress.
Qualified Staff: Our Early Childhood Educators hold college accreditations, university education degrees, or are pursuing further education. With an average tenure of nine years, we have a highly experienced and dedicated team.
Curriculum Approach: We follow the provincially mandated New Brunswick Early Childhood Emergent Curriculum, which is child-led and interest-inspired. Our curriculum focuses on the emotional, social, and intellectual development of each child, incorporating creative, mathematical, and pre-literacy skills within the activities and areas of exploration that children show interest in. We document children's milestones through anecdotes and pictures.
At the Fredericton Early Learning Center, we strive to create a nurturing and engaging environment where children can thrive and develop their full potential. We value collaboration with parents, embrace outdoor experiences, and prioritize the well-being and growth of every child in our care.
