Alberta Premier Danielle Smith has tasked the Jobs Minister, Matt Jones, with reforming the province’s child care grant payment system. This move aims to improve the $3.8-billion federal initiative designed to reduce child care costs to an average of $10 per day by 2026.

Following feedback from child care providers about funding delays and underfunding issues, the government seeks to ensure the program’s long-term sustainability and flexibility.
