A lawsuit has been filed against Stepping Stones Early Learning Center in Nacogdoches, Texas, after a 3-year-old was found on a busy highway, highlighting a severe supervision lapse.

Lindsay Tompkins, the child’s mother, alleges the daycare allowed her daughter to wander off the premises and onto Highway Loop 224. The child was saved by good Samaritans. The daycare did not immediately inform Tompkins or authorities, attempting to cover up the incident. Investigations revealed the daycare’s failure to lock doors and monitor exits.
